Understanding offsets and wear on tooling when machining.
When changing offsets on tooling you have to make sure you change the correct wear. Either Length of the tool or diameter of the tool.
Changing the length of the tool (-.1 means you will drop the tool length down 100 microns or 100 thou)
Changing the diameter will make the machine think the tool is either larger or smaller than it already is.
( -.1 means you will make the tool cut more off with telling the machine its smaller) ( .1 means 100 microns or 100 thou)
( .1 means you will make the tool cut less off the part due to telling the machine it's bigger then what you've set the tool as.)
Setting up Ball Noses
When setting up ball noses always put .1 wear onto the length which brings it above the part in case it digs in ( .1 means 100 microns or 100 thou)
